REV is thrilled to offer this 1967 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto, finished in Rosso over Nero, for sale on consignment by it's local owner of many years. This example is equipped with a recently rebuilt 1779cc inline 4-cylinder from a 1970 Spider Veloce. The twin-cam engine is aspirated by twin Weber DC0E carburetors from Italy, in the European specification, which have been recently rebuilt as well. This stunning 'boat-tail', was one of the most elegant of all time to come out of the Pininfarina design house. The founder, Battista "Pinin" Farina was personally involved in the project, and it would be his last. This original 'Spider' body endured well into the 1990's, but began with these early models, which ended after a four year production. Their fame took off after the cult-classic film The Graduate was released, in which this car played an iconic role. Upon first glance you will notice that the stock wheels have been upgraded to a set of 14" BWA Sportstar alloys, with Michelin tires. Additionally, the convertible top is brand new, professionally installed by an upholsterer within the last few years. Moving inside, you'll find an upgraded wood-trimmed Nardi 3-spoke tri-horn steering wheel. The factory radio (which will be included with the sale) was upgraded to a Panasonic AM/FM/CD unit, with in-dash mounted speakers. The original vents that were removed will be included in the sale, as well. This is a driver quality example which presents itself well, but shows flaws up close. The paint was done many years ago, and has some areas where it's age is poking through. The passenger side rear quarter panel shows some light bubbling near the top and sides, which is depicted in photos. The interior is not without it's flaws either. Though it has newer carpet, the seats will require re-upholstery. Other miscellaneous interior flaws are depicted in photos. As mentioned above, the original 1600cc engine has been upgraded to a '1750' from a 1970 Spider Veloce. In March of this year (2024) the engine was torn down and rebuilt by a professional mechanic. New piston rings, rod bearings, main bearing, thrust bearing were all installed, along with new motor mounts, starter, accessories, full tune-up, and more. Invoices of this repair, and others past are available upon request, and will come with the vehicle. The Weber DC0E carburetors were rebuilt in the last month, and some wiring for the turn signals and brights were repaired. Overall, this Duetto is a lovely ride, with a smooth shifting transmission and clutch, rev-happy engine, and sporty handling, that is ready to be enjoyed by it's next owner. It's flaws are mainly cosmetic, and over the last couple of years, a lot of time and money has been invested to ensure it is mechanically sound.
