1972 Ford Thunderbird

REV is pleased to offer this 1972 Thunderbird for sale, finished in Copper Fire Metallic paint over Tobacco Leather interior. This car is a survivor example, with just 34,583 documented original miles. We acquired this car from the original owner, who has lovingly kept this car in his climate controlled garage it's entire life, and only drove it on the nicest of days. This car is fully loaded with just about every option available in 1972. Original sticker price totaled over $7,000. Those options include a 460 4V V8, 3.00 Traction-Lok Rear Axle, C6 automatic, cornering lights, turnpike convenience group, cruise control, power lock group, tilt steering wheel, power seat, Sure-Track brake system, electric rear window defroster, Air Conditioner with Select-Aire Auto Temp Control, AM/FM stereo, power antenna, automatic seat back release, left hand remote control mirror, tinted glass, power side windows, and the trailer tow package (class 3). According to the Marti Report it was a 1 of 1 car, with it's spec and options -- the only one exactly like it ever built. It is almost entirely original both mechanically and cosmetically; the exception being a repaint on the trunk and rear quarter panels. This was done because back in the 80s, the trunk lock cylinder was punched out by a thief, and it was removed and sealed over when repaired. You can now access the trunk solely by pressing the power trunk release button in the glove box. The paint is in marvelous shape, and shows little-to-no signs of aging or imperfections. No cracking or "crow's feet" are present. The vinyl top looks brand new, and is original. All of the chrome and brightwork is near perfect. There is one tiny spot of very minor rust in the driver's side bottom of the rear quarter panel, depicted in photos. The floor pans are undercoated since day one and are free of rust, as are the body mounts and frame. Moving into the interior, you will first notice just how well this car was kept. No cracking in the dash, no hazing in the gauges, or pitting on the metal trim. The original shag carpeting is like new, and the leather is too. The buttons on the driver's seat are starting to pull out, and one on the seat back has unfortunately fallen off. The power windows, power seat, power antenna, radio, climate control, cruise control, horn, power locks, remote control mirror, auto seat back release, gauges, lights, odometer, and even the original clock all are still functioning (the clock works intermittently). The fuel gauge is not currently reading properly, and shows empty. This car runs and drives like new. It has four brand new radial skinny white wall tires. When we acquired the car, the owner still had the original wheels with the original Michelin tires mounted to them when the car left the showroom (aftermarket wheels have been on the car since the 80's and we put it back to original). The original radiator was just re-cored and upgraded to a 4-row, and a new fan clutch was installed. The AC compressor has a brand new clutch, and has been retrofitted for R134a. The engine runs perfectly smooth, and does not smoke or overheat, and the transmission shifts well with no slippage. There are no creaks, pops, or rattles. The steering is tight, and the brakes are strong. It is a car you can depend upon to drive frequently, or even on long road trips. This car will come with the original invoice, bill of sale, warranty card, owner's manual, brochure, keys, spare (original tire still on it!), maintenance history, and a clean Tennessee title.
